Andrei Volkov was born in Arkhangelsk, Russia in July, 1960. His official
sporting status is master of sports,
international class, snow leopard.
He has been climbing mountains from 1980; 10 times summited 7,000m peaks
of the former USSR; conquered Mont Blanc (1985) and Everest (1992). Volkov
graduated from the Moscow Engineering-Physical Institute where he specialized
in atomic electric power stations. At present he is the Dean of Finance
and Management at the International Academy of
business and banking, Togliatti. Besides
climbing, Andrei Volkov is enjoys tennis and mountain skiing. Formerly,
he took part in the All-Union Ski Marathon "The Ski-Track of Russia" (60
km). |
